Student Support Services

STUDENT ADMINISTRATIVE AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES

Teacher discussing with student in a bright, modern classroom.

The Agriculture Education Institute of Australia is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their individual needs or circumstances. The institute understands that students learn in various ways and may require diverse academic support services, including LLN support and welfare support, to achieve their competency.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES

The Agriculture Education Institute of Australia understands that students have diverse learning styles and may benefit from various academic support services to achieve competency. To facilitate this, the Agriculture Institute Australia schedules extra supplementary classes for additional training and reassessment, which may be offered face-to-face or online via video conference. Course trainers lead these sessions, and students may be required to attend when reassessment is necessary.

To assist both domestic and international students in reaching their full academic potential, the Agriculture Institute Australia provides a range of academic support services. These services are tailored to enhance students’ learning skills and include LLN support, guidance on effective time management, study strategies and academic advice, test and examination preparation techniques, as well as support and advice on managing stress and anxiety. Additionally, students receive information on academic integrity, avoiding plagiarism, and assistance in developing and delivering presentations, ensuring comprehensive welfare support throughout their educational journey.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Support

For students with low LLN skills, academic support services are available that include specialist LLN support. This may involve enrolling the student in an ELICOS course, receiving one-on-one help from an LLN specialist tutor, or utilizing adapted learning resources with a focus on vocabulary and comprehension. While the Agriculture Education Institute of Australia does not have in-house LLN specialists, the Institute will establish referral arrangements with local adult literacy providers or community colleges for professional welfare support.

Computer, IT Access and Digital Literacy Support

Given the increasing use of technology in training, the Agriculture Education Institute of Australia ensures that students can access essential academic support services for online learning systems. Basic digital skills, such as how to navigate the online portal, use software required for the course, or submit assessments electronically, are available through the Institute’s IT support staff. Trainers will also guide students who may be less confident with technology, especially at the start of the course, and provide job aids or resource guides as needed, including LLN support for those who require it.

During training hours, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Monday to Friday, students have access to computers in the general use area to complete assessments and related coursework. Technical assistance is readily available from the Information Technology (IT) Department. All students receive an access code and create a personal password upon enrolment. Additionally, students who bring their own laptops or notebooks can request an individual wireless access code from IT Support Services, enabling them to connect to the campus Wi-Fi network while on site. Welfare support is also available to ensure that all students feel secure and supported throughout their learning experience.

Welfare Support

While the Agriculture Education Institute of Australia's primary role is academic, the Institute recognizes that personal issues, such as mental health, stress, and financial hardship, can impact study. To address these challenges, the Agriculture Institute Australia offers comprehensive academic support services, including LLN support, to help students succeed. Additionally, the Institute provides vital welfare support to ensure students maintain their welfare, safety, wellbeing, and security even when they are off campus.

Students who require welfare or wellbeing support are encouraged to contact the Student Support and Careers Manager (SSCM). The SSCM can assist in providing appropriate welfare and wellbeing services or refer students to the relevant staff member or external support service best suited to address their needs.

Administrative and Other Support

Students may seek assistance from administrative staff for non-academic matters such as understanding institutional policies, completing required forms (including extension requests or financial aid applications), and navigating general administrative processes. The administrative team is available to guide students through procedures and ensure they have access to the information and support needed during their studies, including academic support services that enhance their learning experience.

Agriculture Institute Australia provides the following student request services free of charge to all students:

- Issuance of Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

Student Records

At Agriculture Institute Australia, we manage and update our student records in a systematic and secure manner, ensuring the privacy of our students' details. All Institute records are maintained securely, with access restricted to authorised personnel only. In addition, we offer academic support services, including LLN support and welfare support, to assist our students effectively. All records are maintained in accordance with the Agriculture Education Institute of Australia’s record management policy.

The Agriculture Education Institute of Australia is committed to providing essential academic support services to enrolled students. However, students are encouraged to actively engage with these support processes by:

- Providing honest and accurate information about their needs, including any LLN support they may require, when requested, to the extent they feel comfortable;

- Actively participating in any welfare support strategies arranged, such as attending tutoring sessions or utilizing assistive technology;

- Communicating promptly if they face difficulties or if the support or adjustments provided are not effective.

Before any support is provided, students will be informed of their responsibilities and obligations, ensuring that both the Institute and the student can collaborate effectively to achieve positive academic outcomes.
